My Father was a Legend and I deeply respected him. The fire department and his fellow firefighters were such a huge part of his life.He was such a generous human to so many I will remember the smell of fires, stop drop and roll, the many years of zoo day and other great fundraisers as some of the best childhood memories.I am very proud of my Dad an his many accomplishments but the love he’s received from all of you is greatly appreciated he will always be remembered and celebrated . I just am honestly still heartbroken and want to think and talk about him daily we will be down there the 20th of this month to see a plot…

Thanks Jenna for all your thoughts. Yes, Johnny involved everyone in his ambition, his pride of Detroit Fire. his contributions, his love of Detroit Fire was immense, and indeed, always sincere. I remember, while Deputy Chief, John's calling from the Fund, and inviting myself and other's to represent DETROIT FIRE when a Fire-Fighter gave his life in Philadelphia. The other's were Ronnie Nauman and Frank English representing our guys in DETROIT. Everyone loved Johnny for his respect and love for ALL of YOU, his family there at home, and FIRE HOUSES through the country. We will never lose site of HIM, nor HIS HEART. That's a promise, forever!

His contribution to Detroit Fire, The Fireman's Fund, to the service of all rank and file brother FIRE-FIGHTER'S, their FAMILY's, there needs were remarkable, and not always published or known. It was John's way to pay respect to his profession. Be it DETROIT, or the NEED of any FIRE-FIGHTER near or far, if he was ale to be present to honor his profession he made the effort. Beyond Family, The CORNER of E. Grand Blvd & Moran in Detroit was genuinely HIS FIRST HOME and LOVE. SALUTE JOHNNY "G"!
