The DFD Hockey Team has a long and proud history, dating back to its founding in 1960. Originally competing in the Detroit Industrial League, the team has seen several league changes over the decades, reflecting its resilience and commitment to the game. Today, they play in the South Eastern Michigan Police League, continuing to foster camaraderie among first responders while representing the Detroit Fire Department with pride and determination.
Beyond regular league play, the DFD Hockey Team is dedicated to giving back through participation in numerous charity tournaments across the U.S. and Canada. Whether raising funds for families in need, supporting youth programs, or helping fellow firefighters and first responders, the team’s efforts on the ice extend far beyond the rink. Their commitment to service, both in the firehouse and in the community, makes them an inspiring example of teamwork, sportsmanship, and generosity.
